Abingdon Dolphins are committed to making swimming lessons as safe as they possibly
can be for both staff and swimmers.
Below are a few of the things we will be doing to mitigate, as far as possible, the
risk from COVID-19;
- No one apart from swimmers, teachers and COVID-19 Officer will be allowed on the
premises. Parents/guardians will be asked to wait in their cars for the duration
of the lesson.
- Swimmers will arrive (beach ready) having showered at home and changed into their
costumes with clothes over the top. If the swimmer needs help with putting a hat
on this should be done prior to getting out of the car. Staff members will not be
able to help swimmers with hats or goggles past this stage.
- A member of staff will be present to assemble and escort swimmers through the process
to poolside.
- Swimmers will assemble in class order, social distancing outside the facility.
- At this point swimmers will receive a squirt of hand sanitiser, have their temperature
taken and hand in their Declaration Forms.
- The swimmers will then be escorted through the building to the poolside entrance.
- Shoes will be removed and placed in swimmer’s bag before entering the door to poolside.
- The swimmers will then walk round on poolside to a designated space where they will
leave their personal belongings (clothes, shoes, towel etc.). The changing cubicles
are NOT in use.
- Swimmers should towel dry, put appropriate clothing over their costume and to be
ready to leave as quickly as possible after lessons.
- There will be a one-way system through the facility.
- If a swimmer becomes unwell (with any illness) or injured during a lesson the parent
will be asked to collect him/her and take them home, unless treatment for a minor
injury such as a cut or graze can be given at the time. Whilst awaiting the parent
our staff will socially distance if appropriate but if treatment is needed (such
as a plaster to be applied) the member of staff will use appropriate PPE such as
mask, gloves, apron.
- Any swimmer who fails to adhere to the guidelines laid down by the Government at
the prevailing time or the guidelines set out within this document may be excluded
from the session (and potentially future lessons) with immediate effect. Please make
sure your child understands the importance of social distancing and good personal
hygiene.
